Premium British Dramas Head to Vietnam as BBC Studios Signs Landmark Deal with VSTV

BBC Studios has announced today, a landmark deal with Vietnam Satellite Digital Television (VSTV) for its premium drama titles. The first of its kind, the deal will see a selection of British dramas including the hit series Doctor Foster, made available for the first time in Vietnam on the premium K+ platform.

Vietnam Satellite Digital Television (VSTV) is a joint venture between the national television broadcaster for Vietnam, VTV, and Canal Overseas - the foreign distribution subsidiary of Canal+ Group, operating seven satellite platforms over five continents with millions of subscribers all over the world. The K+ platform, launched by these two leading partners in the field of television (VTV and Canal Overseas) provides a Premium+ package with a monthly subscription fee through satellite pay-TV and streaming services.

This deal sees four high quality British dramas, produced by multi-award winning production companies in the UK, made available to K+ audiences in Vietnam:

• Doctor Foster (S1 & S2) – the BAFTA award-winning exhilarating drama written and created by Mike Bartlett, and produced by Drama Republic. The series is popular all around the world with local adaptations in India, Russia, France, Turkey and Korea, and has broken rating records.

• Les Misérables - an extraordinary cast of A-list actors such as Dominic West (The Wire) and Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) bring the epic adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic novel Les Misérables to life, telling the story of fascinating characters struggling to survive in war-torn France. Les Misérables is produced by Lookout Point and BBC Studios.

• Unforgotten (S1 – S3) - an award-winning British crime drama series, written by creator Chris Lang, directed by Andy Wilson, and produced by Mainstreet Pictures.

• Luther (S1 – S5) – the multi-award-winning series starring Idris Elba (The Wire), is a BBC Studios Production and one of BBC Studios’ top exports, with the series having sold to over 230 territories around the world.
