With a stand of some 200 m2, it will promote its #alimentosdespaña (foods of Spain) strategy, under the banner ‘THE WORLD’S MOST BOUNTIFUL COUNTRY’

The Ministry will present the progress made on the promotion of cycling as part of the roll-out of the State Cycling Strategy

Madrid, 26 April 2021 - The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will promote the quality of Spanish agri-foodstuffs and fishery products, as well as the Countryside Trails Network at FITUR. This year’s participation, at a stand of some 200 m2, will mark the Ministry’s sixth consecutive year at the International Tourism Fair, which is holding its ‘Special Tourism Recovery’ show from 19 to 23 May at Feria de Madrid. The Ministry also hopes its participation will help boost the return to face-to-face meetings among professionals from the global tourism industry.

At the Ministry’s stand in Pavilion 9 of the exhibition centre, the Directorate General for Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-foodstuff Training and the Directorate General for the Food Industry will both promote the quality of Spanish agri-foodstuffs and fishery products and endorse their consumption, as well as publicising the Countryside Trails Network, all within the framework of tourism.

The Ministry will present its #alimentosdespaña (foods of Spain) strategy, under the banner ‘THE WORLD’S MOST BOUNTIFUL COUNTRY’. ‘This new campaign, featuring top chef José Andrés, has been created as an umbrella concept to harness the impact needed for #alimentosdespaña, enhancing its meaning and making a direct connection between consumers and all our food-producing industries: agriculture, livestock farming and fishing. The aim is to promote the quality and encourage the consumption of our produce, offering a proud and positive view of our foodstuffs’, according to the Ministry.

Countryside Trails Network

Spain’s Countryside Trails Network will again be represented at the Ministry’s stand at FITUR. As well as providing information on some of the public’s favourite routes, the Ministry will present the various publicity campaigns it has been conducting to advertise the network. It will also show the progress made in helping boost cycling within Spain as part of the implementation of the State Cycling Strategy, run by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, as well as the projects being undertaken to convert Countryside Trails into places which are more user-friendly, suitable and safe for all people, and to promote the use of these routes with the greatest accessibility possible.

The Countryside Trails Network has two clear objectives: firstly, to promote rural, environmental and cultural tourism, offering users new opportunities for eco-friendly domestic and leisure tourism, and secondly, to boost the socio-economic development of rural areas.
